Study Permit Extension Letter Request Form

If you plan to stay in Canada to continue your studies beyond the validity of your current study permit, you will need to apply to extend your study permit. You should begin the process to extend your study permit about three months before its expiry and no more than six months before its expiry.

You need to extend your study permit before its expiry date. Providing you submit your study permit application before the expiration date, you will have maintained status which means you can continue to study while you wait for a decision from IRCC.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • If you are not graduating this semester, you are required to pay the non-refundable, non-transferable $1,500 commitment fee for the next semester you are planning to be enrolled in. If you are not planning to register in courses next semester, please pay your commitment fee for the following semester after your break.
  • Please ensure you do not have any outstanding balances on your student account for the current or previous semesters before submitting your form. If you have any outstanding balance, a letter cannot be issued and any payments you make to a future semester will be applied to the balance first.
  • The current processing time for the letter is 5-10 business days. Please note that business days do not include weekends or holidays.
